My Storybook Favorites
If there was one thing I loved as a kid, it was reading storybooks. Exploring all of the different storybooks today was like a walk down memory lane, but with a twist of creativity.
After reading many of these projects I decided that my three favorites were Aladdin's Adventures, OU's Haunted Halls, and Toto's Adventures in Oz.
Aladdin's Adventures:
When diving into Aladdin's Adventures, I found it intriguing that the roles were reversed in the case of Aladdin and his princess. While the original story is solely based on Aladdin showing Jasmine a whole new world starting with their infamous ride of the magic flying carpet, I enjoyed how in this version Zakiya changes Aladdin's world and helps him maneuver his way out of the grasp of his evil uncle, Azzam. I was impressed by the design of the storybook and how it gave me a sense of familiarity with the original story.
OU's Haunted Hall's:
When I was a freshman here at the University of Oklahoma I actually went on one of the campus ghost tours, so it's no surprise that this storybook caught my attention. While reading this storybook, it seemed as though the words popped of of the page as I could picture every detail in my head. I believe that the design of the storybook really helped with the spooky imagery that flooded my head.
Toto's Adventures in Oz:
The land of Oz is known for it's outrageous adventures for Dorothy and her best friends. But what we don't know is what Toto thinks of all of this. Which is why I enjoyed reading this storybook from the perspective of Toto. I thought that the titles gave a good view of what was to come and the introduction left me wanting to read through the rest of the stories. The storybook was intriguing from beginning to end.
